FishBase is a global information system with all you
ever wanted to know about fishes. It is a relational
database with information to cater to different
professionals such as research scientists, fisheries
managers, zoologists and many more. FishBase on the
web contains practically all fish species known to
science. FishBase 2004 is also available on DVD or
CD-ROMs with full information on 28,500 species.
FishBase was developed at the WorldFish Center in
collaboration with the Food and Agriculture
Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and many
other partners, and with support from the European
Commission (EC). Since 2001 FishBase is supported by
a consortium of seven research institutions. |

The WorldFish Center is an autonomous, nonprofit
organization, and was established as an
international center in 1977. The Center is an
operational entity with programs funded by grants
from private foundations and governments. The
WorldFish Center is governed by an international
Board of Trustees; its policies are implemented by
the Director General. |

CIDA项目 |
CIDA is designated as a department for the purposes
of the Financial Administration Act by
Order-in-Council P.C. 1968-923 of May 8, 1968. It
reports to Parliament through the Minister of
International Cooperation.The authority of the
Minister and of CIDA is found in the Department of
Foreign Affairs and International Trade Act, in the
Annual Appropriations Act and in the International
Development (Financial Institutions) Assistance Act.
The objective of the CIDA program is to facilitate the
efforts of the people of developing countries to
achieve self-sustainable economic and social
development in accordance with their needs and
environment, by cooperating with them in developing
activities; and to provide humanitarian assistance,
thereby contributing to Canada's political and
economic interests abroad in promoting social
justice, international stability and long-term
relationships for the benefit of the global
community.
